Dachshunds have lively and bold temperaments, the longhair
variety are more calm and placid than the other two coats. They
are extremely loyal and great family pets. Early socialization
ensures they are friendly to all people including strangers. They
are scent hounds, bred to hunt underground game, this means
they should have a high prey drive. If socialized early they are great
with cats, many of the puppies I have produced have gone to
homes with cats and they become the best of friends. I would be
careful leaving your Dachshund around small animals and rodents.

All of the colors can have a pattern also, such as dapple, brindle (brindling

wildboars have individually banded hairs starting red at the base and black

confused with dapple pie balds)
